A
radiotherapy is almost always performed when a conservative surgical treatment has been completed. But it is also possible in case of mastectomy.

This treatment reduces the risk of relapse. Depending on the case, radiation can be focused, in addition to the breast, the lymph nodes of the armpit or near the collarbone or sternum.

However, chemotherapy is not systematic. We can do without when the tumor is less than a centimeter, that of the armpit lymph nodes are not affected and that cancer is not too aggressive.

The age, the opinion of the woman and her medical history also influence the decision of the doctor to recommend or not chemotherapy referred protective.

However, it is proposed chemotherapy for all women under 50 years, at which the armpit lymph nodes are invaded by the tumor or process in which risk factors are present.

Typically, adjuvant chemotherapy (ie after surgery) will be started three to four weeks after the operation. The chemotherapy will be preceded by the establishment of a catheter under anesthesia to avoid biting too often veins.
